Starkweather & Shepley Leadership Delivers Donation to
Tunnel to Towers Foundation in New York City
NEW YORK, NY – NOVEMBER 2026 Members of the Leadership team from Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage, Inc. travelled to New York City to personally deliver a donation to representatives of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The check was presented inside of 3 World Trade Center, overlooking the 9/11 Memorial Pools.
Starkweather & Shepley, together with its corporate sponsors, raised $95,000 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation through Leadership Under Fire: An Evening with Richard Picciotto. The event featured a powerful first-hand account of September 11, 2001, from Richard Picciotto, the highest-ranking FDNY officer to survive inside the World Trade Center during the attacks.
The event honored the 25th anniversary of September 11 and recognized National First Responders Day, paying tribute to the men and women who serve and protect communities every day.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is dedicated to honoring the sacrifice of America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and the families of fallen first responders with young children. The foundation also builds specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, helping them live more independently and comfortably. Through these initiatives, the organization provides meaningful, long-term support to those who have sacrificed so much in service to others.
For Starkweather & Shepley President Elizabeth Lowe, visiting the site of the September 11 attacks brought the significance of the foundation’s mission into even sharper focus.
“Being on-site in New York City, where the September 11 attacks took place, was an incredibly moving experience. Standing in a place where so many lives were lost and so many first responders made the ultimate sacrifice brings a profound perspective to the importance of remembering that day and supporting those who continue to serve. It was an honor to deliver this donation in person and see firsthand the lasting impact of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s work supporting first responders and their families,” said Lowe.
Starkweather & Shepley extends its sincere gratitude to the corporate sponsors and community members whose generosity helped make this contribution possible. The company remains committed to recognizing the sacrifices of first responders and supporting organizations that provide critical assistance to them and their families.
